EKO HOT BLOG reports that speaking during an interview with Channels Television on Sunday, El-Rufai said his projections were based on careful political calculations. According to him, President Tinubu has no clear path to winning the election on the first ballot.
“Tinubu will be third in the 2027 election. I have done my maths and I can tell you Tinubu has no pathway to win. The worst-case scenario is that there will not be any winner in the first ballot,” he said.
El-Rufai, who is now a member of the coalition-adopted African Democratic Congress (ADC), argued that the current administration has failed to improve the lives of Nigerians. He questioned whether citizens feel any progress under Tinubu’s leadership.
“Ask yourself, is your life better now under President Tinubu?” he added.
The former governor, who was instrumental in Tinubu’s emergence as President, further accused the administration of deviating from its promises. He maintained that the purpose of government is to deliver on the expectations of citizens, but insisted that Tinubu’s government has fallen short.
“There are people who don’t want me to criticize Tinubu, but the truth must be told. The government is not working in the best interest of Nigerians,” El-Rufai said.

El-Rufai’s remarks come amid growing debates about the political climate ahead of the 2027 elections, with opposition parties already strategizing to unseat the incumbent administration.
