Sallah: Husband Detains Wife, Her Baby, For Biting Younger Wife’s Ear

-Nursing mother, Nimat Raheem arrested for bitting off and inflicting injury on younger wife’s ear.

A woman identified as Nimat Raheem has been arrested after allegedly bitting and inflicting deep injury on her rival’s ear in Ijede community in Ikorodu, Lagos Friday.

The case was reported to the police at Ijede Police station by Nimat Raheem’s husband.

Reporting the cause of the crisis in his home, Nimat Raheem’s husband identified as Mr Isiaka Raheem, said Nimat was not happy that he brought in the younger wife to their home for Salla celebrations and so decided to fight the woman and in the process, bit off her ear and inflicted a deep cut in the ear.

According to Mr Isiaka, he decided to bring in the second wife home so they could celebrate together because he claimed he could only afford a ram for this year’s Sallah celebration.

Our correspondent gathered that the victim has been rushed to the government hospital and she is under intensive care.

When Nimat was asked why she committed the crime, she said she had been married for 15 years with five children but said she only dragged her earring claiming her action was in an attempt to protect her home against an intruder.

The DCO confirmed the incident and also said the doctor treating the victim’s ear which was affected by the bit.

The police also added that the lady’s husband had said he did not want to see the woman in his house again, and she is still detained in the station with her baby as the husband is still taking care of the victim (second wife}.

According to her, she is the only child of her parents and they live far. Up till the time of filing this report, none of her relatives came to check her at the station to secure her release.
