Community Volunteer Group under the auspices of Global Peace Foundation, GPF, Nigeria, has embarked on filling of potholes on Kafanchan -Kagoro road to avert road accidents.
The exercise was part of effort toward restoring peace and to improve the standard of living of the people in the Area.
Country Director, Global Peace Foundation Nigeria, Reverend John Joseph Hayab made this known to newsmen during the exercise in kafanchan,Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Reverend Hayab explained that the event with the theme Shaping Peace Together, was part of the Organization’s determination to promote innovative and value-based approach for peace-building guided by the vision of One Family under God Campaign.

He said the organization had held series of peace and reconciliation meetings with participants drawn from different traditional chiefdoms across southern Kaduna including Nikyob,Takad and Zikpak among others where volunteer Peace Building groups were formed.
The Peace Ambassador Commended the GPF, Community Volunteers in Jema’a Local Government for embarking on such humanitarian project, as well as taking ownership of peace process and initiative in their communities.
The GPF Country Director however challenged adherents of the two major religions and traditional title holders to make peace building their personal business toward promoting growth and development within their communities and the state in general.
The Northern Coordinator of GPF Nigeria, Sheikh Haliru Maraya said the Foundation had been working round the clock to ensure peaceful coexistence between and amongst the people of the State irrespective of their religious and tribal differences.

He regretted that the country was loosing huge amount of financial resources to restore losses that resulted from violence and challenges of insecurity, stressing that the importance of peace and peaceful coexistence cannot be over- emphasized.
In a lecture at the event, Provost, Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan Waya, Professor Alexander Kure, emphasized the need for people in the area to embrace forgiveness and reconciliation with a view to promoting lasting peace and harmony.

Volunteer Community Coordinator of the International Peace Building Organization in Jema’a Local Government Area, Mr. Timothy Machu applauded effort of the Foundation, Saying the Volunteer Initiative which started at Nikyob Traditional Chiefdom, has now registered it presence and impact in almost all Chiefdoms across the Local Government Council and Southern Kaduna in general.
