Austrian Foreign Minister Tests Positive For Coronavirus

Austria’s Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg has joined the list of politicians who have tested positive for coronavirus.

According to his ministry, he has been self-isolating after testing positive for the virus.

There are indications that Schallenberg could have contracted coronavirus during a meeting of European Union foreign ministers in Luxembourg on Monday.

“He has not presented any symptoms so far,” he said.

Reports have it that the minister cancelled a scheduled trip to Britain, Denmark, Greece and Cyprus.

However, as a precautionary step, all members of the conservative government of Chancellor Sebastian Kurz would be tested on Saturday.

The country, which has a population of 8.8 million, recorded 2,300 cases on Saturday with 882 deaths since the pandemic started.
