The central market in Sokoto, capital of Sokoto state North-West Nigeria is currently under fire.
Ekohotblog learnt that the fire which started around 7 am Tuesday is still raging.
The state fire service which heeded distress calls to rush to the market said the fire might have been caused by a generating set used by shop owners in the market.

An eye witness said the fire started from a generating set at Kofar Yan Roba axis of the market
Men of the federal and state fire services have deployed combine efforts to put out the massive fire which has extended to many shops.
As at the time of filing this report, a number of shops on the same block have been completely razed while the fire service men battle to prevent it’s spread. details shortly. ….
