Eredo Residents, Market Leaders Hail Gov. Sanwo-Olu On Road Projects

Residents of Eredo LCDA in Epe, Lagos State have commended Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his conscious efforts to make adequate provisions for good and quality road networks in the LCDA and across the state.

Residents of the area were taken aback by the construction works going on the Mojoda axis of Epe-Ijebu-Ode Expressway.

As at the time of filing this report, Ekohotblog gathered that the construction work being executed cuts across other sections in Poka, Odomola and Noforija communities. The progress of the construction so far is heading towards Epe Central, close to Government Technical College.

Speaking with Ekohotblog, Alhaji Rasaq Afolabi Okesanya, The Baba Oloja of the famous Mojoda Market in Epe expressed satisfaction at the construction and appreciated the Governor for a job well done. Stressing the important role played by the Federal Government of Nigeria, Alhaji Rasaq noted that the project would have been impossible.

” The completion of the Expressway under construction is exciting and we are happy about it. When the road project encountered some setbacks, we were all apprehensive as to how commuting and transporting goods from Ijebu-Ode and other states would be easy. And as the Contractors have been moved back to the site, we are all rejoicing at the quick and responsive action from Government. The work is going on and we thank Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his responsive leadership.

“We also appreciate the unflinching support of the Federal Government because, without their support, it won’t be an easy task to perform “, he said.

As a political leader in Ward J1 of Eredo LCDA, Epe, Alhaji Rasaq, in his words of advice, admonished the good people of Eredo to continue supporting the APC. This he said was imperative for qualitative representation which will in turn bring dividends of democracy.

In the same vein, another trader, Mrs Bolanle Akinlabi who travelled to trade from neighbouring Poka community at the ancient Mojoda Market, relayed the experience the road under construction had put commuters and transporters through. She however expressed optimism that the road construction would be completed before the wet season.

” We give glory to Almighty God because we are happy that our cries unto the Government at all times to fast track completion of the road has paid off. Now, there is much improvement as it is being given attention. I want to appeal to the Government to please speed up the construction before the rainy season.

“In recent times, the road under construction had affected trading transactions in the market, it impeded access to the steady supply of goods to us.

“Most of these transport vehicles got stuck on the road, most fall inside the pool of water gathered during the rainy season which towed out.

“Our business was not booming as at then. We appeal again and again to the Government of Babajide Sanwo-Olu to speed up work on the road “, she said.

Speaking with another resident, Adebayo Akorede, an artisan, who said he thought the construction work said he was glad to see workers back on the road after the festive periods in 2021.

” To begin with, I give kudos to the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in Lagos State for his giant strides. At first, we thought this expressway would be abandoned but to our surprise, it is being completed.

” A lot has happened to motorists plying this road but then, we are excited. Immediately after the festive periods of the previous year, we were surprised at the sight of giant road construction types of equipment and machines.

“The completion of the road will certainly have multiplier effects on residents around this vicinity and I pray God strengthens the Governor to continue to deliver more infrastructural projects to the good people of Eredo, Epe and Lagos State at large “, he said.

It would be recalled that Ekohotblog had reported that the road would be completed. The assurance was given by the Lawmaker representing Epe Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Wale Raji.
