Soldiers Protest Poor Equipment, Non-payment Of Allowances In Borno

  • The protest is coming on the heels of a recent revelation by the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno who reported missing a sum of ₦1bn meant for procurement of arms

Soldiers of an unidentified battalion in Operation Lafiya Dole have protested their posting to a location within the Theatre of Operation.

The angry soldiers, reportedly stormed the headquarters of the Theatre Command in Borno State, shooting sporadically into the air on Thursday night to express their discontent with the deployment.

Sources said they cited non-payment of allowances and poor equipment as reasons for their rebellion.

Some soldiers who gave information anonymously recalled how a whole unit that went for reinforcement when Marte was captured by the Boko Haram insurgents last month, perished under superior firepower of the enemy forces.
