Former Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Alhassan popularly known as Mama Taraba, is dead.

EKO HOT BLOG gathered that the former minister died at the age of 61 in Cairo, Egypt.

Details of her death remain sketchy as of the time of writing this report.

Alhassan contested the Taraba 2015 governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) but lost to incumbent Governor Darius Ishaku, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Shortly after her loss, President Muhammadu Buhari appointed her as the Minister of Women Affairs.

She, however, left under controversial circumstances as the APC failed to clear her for the 2019 gubernatorial election.

She had resigned her appointment and defected to the United Democratic Party (UDP).

The former senator from Taraba North Senatorial District was born on September 16, 1959, in Jalingo, Taraba State, to Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim, Sarkin Ayukan Muri.
