Robbers who specialise in robbing offices around Government House Awka were caught as they tried to forcefully rape a septuagenarian they met in a compound that they visited.
While the suspects were ransacking the premises occupied by the victim, she was mute but had to scream when they wanted to have canal knowledge of her, thereby attracting neighbours.
The suspects tried to escape by scaling the perimeter fence of the victim’s compound.
However, neighbours ran after them and caught both suspects.
Mr Nnaemeka Egbe, an artisan, said he has been seeing the suspects patrol the area.
“I have always seen them walking in this vicinity aimlessly suspecting that they might be thieves,” he said.
They gave their names as Steven Oraekwe, 51, from Alor in Anambra and one Ifeanyi, 42,from Ebonyi.

It took the intervention of men from Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to save them from the angry mob before they were taken to their office.
