- No fewer than 700 members of the opposition PDP have dumped the party for the ruling APC.
EKOHOTBLOG reports that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suffered another setback after over 700 of its members dumped the party for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gumel Local Government area of Jigawa State.
The 700 members of the PDP were formally received by the Chairman of Gumel Local Government, Alhaji Ahmed Rufa’i, at the APC’s headquarters on Sunday.
Speaking, the leader of the decampees, Comrade Hamisu Bekarya, said, the youths from PDP and other political parties decided to join ruling APC due to its efforts in developing the country.
He said, “We decided to dump our political parties PDP, SDP and join the All Progressives Congress (APC) with aims to contribute our quota towards nation building as only APC gives more chances to youths at both local, state and federal government levels.”

On his part, the Chairman of Gumel Local Government, Alhaji Ahmed Rufa’i, said the decampees would be treated as any member of the party.
