  • BREAKING: Heavy Security As Court Set To Deliver Judgement On Kanu’s Rights Suit

EKO HOT BLOG reports that heavily armed security personnel have cordoned off the roads leading to the premises of the Abia State High Court complex in Umuahia as the court is set to deliver judgement today, Wednesday, on the suit by Nnamdi Kanu for the enforcement of his Fundamental Rights filed against the federal government of Nigeria.

This newspaper recalls that the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) filed the suit through his Special Counsel Aloy Ejimakor on August 27 last year.

By 7:00am, a detachment of law enforcement officers had been deployed around the court premises.

All the roads leading to the court have also been barricaded, forcing motorists and pedestrians to take alternate routes.
Journalists and staff of the court as well as people accessing the premises were asked to produce their identity cards before allowing access to the premises.

Kanu was first arrested in 2015 but disappeared while on bail in April 2017. His social media posts during his absence and his Radio Biafra broadcasts outraged the government, which said they encouraged attacks on security forces.

Security agents produced him in court in Abuja on June 29, 2021 after detaining him in an undisclosed country. His lawyer alleged he was detained and mistreated in Kenya, though Kenya has denied involvement.
