EKO HOT BLOG reports that a presidential aspirant under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Nwachukwu Anakwenze, has said the process leading to the selection of the party’s consensus candidate is invalid.
The aspirant said the presidential hopefuls from the South East have met and agreed to work together for now.
Anakwenze, disclosed this while addressing journalists yesterday, after meeting with the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
He said that bad leadership is the only challenge facing Nigeria, adding that if corrected the country would become a superpower.
Anakwenze said, “From the east, we all agreed to work together. And then towards the end, we will see who is in a better position. And at that point, we might do consensus, but not right now.
“In the North, consensus candidate they are talking about makes no sense because it is not their turn. President Muhammadu Buhari who is from the north will be finishing his two terms soon which means the North has also served out their tenure and so the argument for a northern consensus for the PDP does not hold water.
“We want a Nigeria where all the groups will have a sense of belonging. And everybody feels like they have equal say and power. We want a Nigeria where the majority’s right is balanced with the minorities’ right, we want a Nigeria where diversity is strength, where all groups feel sense of belonging.”
In his response, the national chairman of the PDP, Dr Iyorchia Ayu, said there is so much patriotism in Dr Anakwenze’s bloodstream.
