EKO HOT BLOG reports that Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State has declared a 24-hour curfew within the metropolis in a bid to quell the spread of civil unrest trailing the killing of Deborah Samuel over alleged blasphemy.

The Office of the Special Adviser Media and Publicity to the Governor announced this on Saturday.

According to the government, the curfew has become necessary as the only option left to prevent a breakdown of law and order in the state.

Deborah, a second-year student of the Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto State, was killed on Thursday following an allegation that she had blasphemed Muhammad (SAW), a prophet of Islam.
