1. Ban: Lagos to crush seized motorcycles Friday

The Lagos State Government has said that commercial motorcycles seized for flouting the ban in six local government areas of the will be crushed before the media on Friday.

Lagos Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said this in a statement on Wednesday.

The Chairman of Lekki Phase 1 Residents’ Association, Yomi Idowu, had accused the state government of seizing 500 commercial motorcycles aka Okada from errant riders and returning 1,000 bikes to the offenders.

Idowu had also challenged the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration to show video of crushed Okada.

2. My govt’ll rehabilitate displaced Bakassi people, Tinubu vows

Presidential aspirant, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has promised to rehabilitate the displaced people of Bakassi if elected president.

He made the promise on Wednesday in Calabar when he came to consult delegates ahead of the party’s forthcoming presidential primary of the All Progressives Congress.

Tinubu said,”We will create jobs, we will rehabilitate those displaced in Bakassi,” adding that he will make Calabar port functional.

Tinubu, who came with an entourage including the Governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Ganduje, told the delegates to vote for success and progress and that they should ask about his achievements in Lagos.

3. FAAN begins replacement, repair of old equipment at airports – MD

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria says it has begun the replacement and repair of aged equipment used to carry out its daily operations at the airports across the country

The Managing Director, FAAN, Capt. Rabiu Yadudu, made this known at an interactive session with the League and Airports Aviation Correspondents in Lagos on Wednesday.

Yadudu said some of the equipment such as the baggage landing, runway and the central cooling system among others were more than 40 years old and above.

He said that FAAN had inaugurated an ad hoc committee in 2021 because it saw that most of the facilities were aged.

He said that these equipment were supposed to be replaced every 15 years, but some had gone 25 to 30 years.

4. PDP delegate donates proceeds to Community members, pays sch fees for students

Mr. Tanko Rossi Sabo, a PDP delegate who came back with the money he got had shared it all with his community in Sanga LGA of Kaduna state.

According to a former SA Media to late Governor Yakowa of Kaduna State, Reuben Buhari, Sabo spent N7 million alone on the less privileged in his community.

” He bought jerseys, paid school fees and hospital fees. He distributed the rest to other support groups,” said Buhari.

5. Udom dismisses false remarks on co Presidential aspirants attributed to him

Akwa Ibom State Governor Mr Udom Emmanuel has reacted to the uncomplimentary remarks maliciously and falsely attributed to him on some social media platforms, saying he never described any of his co Presidential Aspirants in the just concluded national party primaries as ” talkative”.

He has called on security agencies to clamp down on those who perpetuated the mischief and falsehood using social media.

Fielding questions from Government House Correspondents at the Victor Attah International Airport on return from a brief official trip to Abuja, the Akwa A’Ibom State Chief Executive said, “It is all lies and I stand here to reaffirm again that I didn’t make such a statement.

“It is not in my character to make such a statement and I want to believe that the law enforcement agencies will look into this, because if this is not put to check malicious people will cause a whole lot of confusion”, he stated.

6. Buhari calls for global cooperation to avert looming food crisis

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has stressed the need for world leaders to come together and strategise on ways to avert the looming food crisis around the world.

President Buhari said this Wednesday in Madrid, Spain at the Royal Palace during an audience with his Royal Majesty, King Felipe VI in continuation of his State Visit to the country.

The two leaders canvassed a global action to stem the food problem especially in wheat production occasioned by the ongoing war in Ukraine, urging world leaders to take concrete actions to avert the crisis.

The King said Nigeria was an important country and looked forward to an opportunity to visit the country especially against the background of stronger cooperation being forged by the two countries.

7. INEC: 4.5m youths completed online voter registration in May 2022

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said 4.5 million Nigerian youths completed the online registration for fresh voters’ cards as of May 30, 2022.

The youths, who are between the ages of 18 and 34, according to INEC’s data, accounted for 69.5 per cent of the total registrations completed online since the beginning of the continuous voter registration (CVR).

The commission announced that while it received 10.2 million fresh applications, only 6.5 million applicants completed their registration, out of which the youths accounted for 4.5 million.

The youth’s interest in registering for voters’ cards this year may have been aroused by various advocacy campaigns by influencers on various social media platforms, especially Twitter.

8. Three ‘global scammers’ arrested in Lagos, Benin

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested three suspected global scammers in an Interpol-led operation targeting malware cyber fraud across Southeast Asia.

The three suspects were arrested in a sting operation conducted simultaneously in Ajegunle, Lagos State and Benin City, Edo State.

The operation was part of a global operation codenamed “Killer Bee” involving Interpol National Central Bureaus (NCBs) and law enforcement in 11 countries across Southeast Asia.

The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, COSEYL, has condemned call for immediate resignation of the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, over the just concluded presidential primary election

DAILY POST reports that some party stakeholders particularly from the Southern part of the country have continued to demand the resignation of the Ayu, for ignoring zoning and allowing Northerner to clinch the party’s ticket.

But a statement issued on Wednesday by its President General, Goodluck Ubem, COSEYL asked those making the demand to shelve their ‘sword’, saying Ayu’s resignation may throw the party out of balance.

10. Kaduna 2023: I’ve not withdrawn lawsuit, petition against Uba Sani’s emergence as APC candidate – Sha’aban

An aspirant in the All Progressives Congress (APC) who contested for the 2023 governorship election, Alhaji Sani Sha’aban has said the lawsuit and petition he wrote against Senator Uba Sani hasn’t yet been withdrawn.

The aspirant instituted a lawsuit and petitioned Senator Uba Sani to the National Headquarters of the APC, complaining that the primary election that produced Uba Sani as the candidate for the 2023 governorship was fraudulent as the list of delegates used was fake.

In a press release which was issued by him on Wednesday, the politician, who believed he would have won had the authentic delegates list was used, noted that the response of the APC national leadership was awaited, while he insisted that the petition and the lawsuit have not been withdrawn.
