Okowa Opens Up, Reveals Why He Accepted To Be Atiku’s Running Mate

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa has said that accepting to be Abubakar Atiku‘s running mate in the 2023 presidential election was the best decision for him.
Okowa, who expressed hope that someday an Igbo-speaking man would become Nigeria’s president, said it would have been a disservice on his part if he had rejected the call to be Vice to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate.
This online media recalls that following his emergence as PDP’s presidential flag-bearer at the party’s primary elections, Atiku announced Okowa as his running mate.
Atiku hailed Governor Okowa saying the politician possessed all the qualities needed for the job of a Vice President.
Okowa had also accepted the offer and promised to work together with the former vice president in the interest of Nigeria.
Speaking ahead of the 2023 polls, Okowa who appeared on an interview on Television said, “It would have been a disservice on my part to have turned down the Vice President nomination. I am a party man.”
The number one citizen in Delta State maintained that he is an Igbo man and that “the time will come when an Igbo man will become the President of Nigeria.”
Speaking in another encounter with party faithful in Asaba on Thursday, Okowa thanked Atiku, the national chairman of the PDP, Iyiorcha Ayu, for their nomination and support for his candidacy.
Okowa stressed that the Atiku/Okowa joint ticket is for victory, hope and the only ticket that will wrestle power from the APC-led government come 2023.

According to him, Nigerians need to pray, be resilient and be hopeful, adding that the process of rebuilding the country and giving hope to the youth, women and indeed Nigerians has begun.
Governor Okowa admonished the youths not to be carried away by the euphoria of the time but to remain committed to work with PDP for the positive change that would come.
