JUST IN: ‘Extend Voters’ Registration’— Nigerians Beg INEC

‘Nigerians have pleaded with INEC to extend the Voters’ Registration deadline slated for July 31st.

 

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Kaduna Residents, on Saturday, begged the Independent National Electoral Commission to extend more weeks for them to complete their Permanent Voters’ Registration.

 

In most areas visited across the Kaduna metropolis, hundreds of residents besieged the centres to register.

Although, INEC officials were on ground registering intending voters, the numbers of intending voters continued to increase daily.

 

Musa Moses, a resident said he and his family were displaced by bandits and they now have to register close to their new residence.

 

Mrs. Juliana Adejo, another resident said she had relocated from Kajuru to Kurmi Gwari in Kakuri and planned to vote in her new area during the 2023, general elections.

 

“Since bandits kidnapped my husband alongside others in Kajuru community, we have relocated to a more secure environment and I have to register afresh,” She said

 

Mrs. Elizabeth Musa said she was transferred to Kaduna, and needed to get a new voter card or transfer her old one to her new location.

As the closing date for registration approaches, with several intending voters yet to be registered, there is hope among residents that INEC will see reasons to extend more time.
