The US has claimed that there’s an elevated risk of terror attacks in Abuja.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the United States (US) Embassy in Nigeria has issued a security alert, claiming that there is an elevated risk of terror attacks in Nigeria, specifically in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

The embassy posted the message on its website on Sunday.

It noted that targets may include government buildings, worship centres, schools, markets, amongst other locations.

“There is an elevated risk of terror attacks in Nigeria, specifically in Abuja,” the security alert read.

“Targets may include, but are not limited to, government buildings, places of worship, schools, markets, shopping malls, hotels, bars, restaurants, athletic gatherings, transport terminals, law enforcement facilities, and international organizations”

The U.S. Embassy added that it will offer “reduced services until further notice.”

It also suggested actions to take to be safe, advising Americans in Nigeria to avoid all non-essential travel or movement, stay alert, avoid crowds, review their personal security plans, keep their cell phone charged in case of emergency, and carry proper identification.
