The exercise is to treat Soil-Transmitted Helminthiasis (STH), where the age target is children between five and 14 years in 10 local governments of the state.

It was also noted that the deworming exercise will involve those who are at risk of parasitic worm infections in the State.

Among the local government to focus on are Ajeromi/Ifelodun, Amuwo-Odofin, Apapa, Badagry, Epe, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland, Ojo, and Shomolu.

The local governments were chosen because they are areas with soil-transmitted helminthiasis endemic.

The exercise is implemented by the Lagos State Government in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Health and a non-governmental organisation, Evidence Action.

According to the State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, while speaking on the modalities for the implementation of the exercise, said it will hold within 5- days.
