Muslim Group Debunks El-Zakzaky’s Death Rumours

A Muslim group has debunked El-Zakzaky’s death rumours.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that an advocacy group, the Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC), has asked the public to disregard rumours circulating that the leader of a Nigerian Shiite group, Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, is dead.

The rumours started circulating on Monday that Sheikh Zakzaky, Leader of the Islamic Movement, has passed away.

But in a Twitter update via its known Twitter handle, the international Islamic human rights organization said El-Zakzaky is alive.

“Please disregard rumours circulating this morning that Sheikh El-Zakzaky has passed away,” IHRC said.

Meanwhile, Shiites in Nigeria and sympathizers on Monday marked the 7th anniversary of the Zaria massacre.

Sheikh Zakzaky, Leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, condoled the families of the “martyrs” over the December 2015 Zaria Massacre, asking them to accept the will of God.

Sheikh Zakzaky and his wife Zeenat have lost their six sons, three of whom were killed during the Zaria Massacre.

Recall that in December 2015, Nigerian army troops attacked Sheikh Zakzaky’s residence and a place of worship belonging to the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, killing over three hundred and forty of his supporters.
