His condolence message was contained in a statement made available to Eko Hot Blog on Friday.
Obanikoro, a member of the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) and a former Minister of State for Defence like the deceased, described his late friend of many years as a pillar who will be sorely missed by Nigerians and Lagosians.
“I received with shock, regret and a deep sense of loss, the news of the death of my friend, brother, family, and associate, Demola Seriki,” the statement reads in part.
“He was a pillar, a believer in human capital and societal development, a staunch advocate of better lives for our people, honest and a role model to many. He devoted and committed his lifetime to lifting and developing others.”

Obanikoro further described Seriki’s demise as “a terrible loss to us all,” adding that, “we can only take solace in the fact that he lived a worthy life and we believe he has been welcomed by the angels in heaven.”
The APC chieftain prayed that God grants members of the family, friends and associates the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
In a separate interview with Eko Hot Blog, Obanikoro described death as one of the mysteries of life.
He noted that, while the envoy’s death remained a mystery to him, he took solace in the knowledge that he spent his time on earth well.
“One of the mysteries of life yet to be unraveled by any mortal and has defied all scientific analyses or breakthroughs is the transition to the world beyond. Death is a clear proof of God’s supremacy and dominion over all mortals,” the two-time minister told this news medium.
“Though his death is inexplicable, we take solace in the knowledge that he judiciously spent his time here and contributed his quota to the betterment of humanity.”
The envoy’s death was disclosed in a statement signed by his children. He was said to have passed away in the early hours of Thursday, December 15.
