On Thursday, prosecutors announced that they were charging the actor and the film’s armourer, Hannah Gutierrez Reed, over the cinematographer’s death.
“’Rust’ actor and producer Alec Baldwin and armourer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed will each be charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Halyna Hutchins on the film’s Santa Fe County set in 2021,” New Mexico First Judicial District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies announced in a statement.
Baldwin was rehearsing with the gun when it went off and killed Hutchins, although there was not supposed to be live ammunition on the set.

The actor has maintained he did not pull the gun’s trigger, placing responsibility for the tragedy on the armourer and props assistant on the film, as well as the assistant director Dave Halls, who handed him the gun.
In November, Baldwin filed suit against Reed, Halls, and other individuals associated with the film, according to a cross-complaint.
