Naira Redesign: It’s All A Ploy To Make Peter Obi President – Bello Shagari

  • The former President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria has raised a conspiracy theory that the Naira situation facing the country is caused by political elites after the victory of Peter Obi.

  • Bello Shagari states the only reason behind the Naira redesign is to help Peter Obi become President of Nigeria, thus indirectly pointing fingers at the current President, Muhammadu Buhari, who has claimed responsibility for being behind the policy.

  • Shagari, however, maintains that victory still would slip from Peter Obi.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Bello Shagari, a former president of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), has alleged that those behind the Naira redesign policy are working for Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP).

Shagari also expressed doubt that Obi could win the forthcoming presidential election.

EDITOR’S PICKS

In a post on his verified Twitter handle on Friday, Shagari claimed that he had initially thought the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was behind the policy. He accused the group of causing economic hardship for Nigerians while pursuing their political ambition.

Shagari wrote:

“I heard that a group of people influencing the decisions of this monetary policy causing economic hardship for Nigerians are actually working for Obi. Some of us thought they are working for PDP. How can you make life difficult for millions for the ambition of a few?”

He also expressed doubts about Obi’s chances of winning the presidential election, stating that it was not realistic for him to do so. Shagari argued that running for president a few months before the election was not feasible in a democratic system.

The Naira redesign policy has been a controversial issue in Nigeria, with many people questioning the government’s decision to spend a huge sum of money on the project.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has defended the move, saying it is necessary to enhance the security features of the currency and prevent counterfeiting.

It is unclear what evidence Shagari has to support his claim that those behind the policy are working for Obi and the LP.

However, his statement has sparked reactions on social media, with some people questioning his motives and others calling for an investigation into the matter.
