10 States Ask Supreme Court To Nullify Buhari’s New Naira Order

  • Ten states have called for Supreme Court intervention to nullify Buhari’s directive on new naira notes.

  • President Buhari had directed the Central Bank of Nigeria to recirculate only the old N200 notes.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that a request has been made by ten states to the Supreme Court, seeking a declaration that President Muhammadu Buhari’s new directive, which reintroduces old N200 notes and deems old N500 and N1,000 notes unconstitutional, is invalid.

President Buhari stated on Thursday that he instructed the Central Bank of Nigeria to exclusively put back into circulation the old N200 notes.
