Insecurity: FG Approves N495m To Procure, Install Baggage Scanners In Railway Stations

  • The Federal Government has approved N495m for the installation of railway scanners.

  • The approval is coming due to the relentless attacks on railway stations.

  • The meeting of the FEC was presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Federal Executive Council, FEC, on Wednesday, approved N495 million for the installation of scanners in all the railway stations across Nigeria.

The FEC meeting was chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

Mr Ademola Adegoroye, the Minister of State for Transportation, briefed State House correspondents after the meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, NAN.

Adegoroye explained that the installation would bolster security at the railway stations.
He said: “The Federal Ministry of Transportation had two memos today, which I presented on behalf of the ministry. One had to do with the provision of scanners at all railway stations all over the country.

“So, today, there was a memo before the council for the provision of baggage scanners at railway stations and I’m happy to inform you that the council agreed with us and approved that contract for scanners to be installed at railway stations.”
