Officials In France Respond To Bedbug Panic As Paris School Gets Infested

Eko Hot Blogreports that France is working tirelessly in its fight against the infestation of bed bug in the country as a Parisian school has become the latest centre hit by the insects.

Stakeholders in different sectors from the health, economy and transport ministries are set to meet on Friday at the prime minister’s office to coordinate a plan of action against the insects.

The outcome of the meeting is to expedite the proposal for national observatory on the infestation of the insects.

The government, therefore, fears that the domination of the bedbug story on the internet and media both locally and internationally may dent the image of the tourist attraction country and thereby affecting the tourism industry of the country, particularly as it prepares ahead of the Olympics next year.

France is advised on the strategy it needs to redeem the home of  major iconic fashion houses on the globe, and look inwardly on how to contain the insects.

Transport Minister Clément Beaune debunked the circulation making waves across the media, that not one out of the nearly 50 reported sightings of bedbugs on metro and SNCF trains had been verified.

“I wouldn’t like to see a kind of French-bashing take hold… as it does sometimes in Anglo-Saxon countries,” he said.

“The problem needs to be taken very seriously. No denial. And no hysteria.”

Over recent weeks, pest-control companies across France have reported a huge increase in bedbug call-outs. Experts say there is always a pick-up after the summer holidays, and every year the surge is getting bigger.

“It’s happening in cities everywhere,” said Mr Roux de Bézieux.
