Eko Hot Blog reports that In a passionate plea for justice, the village heads of Lagos communities gathered in Epe to address the pressing issue of their ancestral lands being sold off unlawfully. The lagos communities, forcibly displaced in 2006 to make way for the Lekki Free Trade Zone, now seek Governor Sanwo-Olu’s intervention to halt the illicit land sales.

Highlighting the injustice, they revealed how their lands and homes were seized over a decade ago during the tenure of former Governor Bola Tinubu to make room for the ambitious Lekki Free Trade Zone project. Despite promises of resettlement, they allege that the responsible authorities have been profiting from the unlawful sale of their land.
Initially, around 300 lagos communities were uprooted and merged into three zones – Abomiti, Yeguda, and Eyin-Osa – as part of the development plan spearheaded by Tinubu. However, the promises made during this process have been broken, leaving the affected communities vulnerable to exploitation.
Chief Obafemi Onayemi, representing the Onigbagbo community in the Abomiti Zone, revealed the existence of a deal brokered between the state government and the communities, orchestrated by the Lekki Worldwide Investments Limited.
