Gunmen Kidnap Four, Kill One in Anambra

 

A spree of kidnappings and a killing occurred in Anambra State on Saturday night, leaving residents terrified.

Eko Hot Blog gathered that gunmen struck at various locations, abducting four individuals and killing one, Clement Eduzor, in Enuavomimi village, Enugwu-Ukwu, Njikoka local government area.

The incidents happened in Ifite Awka, Peter Obi’s Agulu-Oraukwu Road, and Oye Market, Nimo, Njikoka, with the gunmen firing shots and leaving without a trace.

Witnesses criticized the police for arriving late, after the incidents had occurred.

The state police public relations officer, Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed one of the incidents, stating that efforts are ongoing to arrest the assailants and rescue the victims.

In a statement, he said, “The Commissioner of Police Anambra State, Nnaghe Obono Itam states that efforts are ongoing to arrest the assailants and rescue the victims… joint security measures/personnel positioning are already in place to forestall such related incidents in the state.”

The police recovered the abandoned vehicle of one of the victims and have deployed joint security measures to prevent further incidents.
