Transfer: Kante undergoes West Ham medical after deal agreed

West Ham have successfully reached an agreement to acquire the highly-rated Paris FC midfielder, Mohamadou Kante, in a strategic buy-to-loan deal.

The 18-year-old is set to undergo a medical at West Ham on Tuesday after agreeing to a five-year contract with the Premier League club.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Kante won’t feature for the Irons this season, as he will be loaned back to Paris FC for the duration of the campaign.

With his contract at Paris FC set to expire in 2025, the French club opted to cash in on the young talent.

Kante has yet to make an appearance in Ligue 2, having played exclusively for Paris FC’s Under-19s or B team.

The midfielder has accumulated 31 appearances and scored five goals in his early career.

Kante is seen as a long-term investment for West Ham, which is why he’s being loaned back to Paris FC to continue his development with regular playing time.

The deal benefits all parties, as Paris FC retains Kante for another season, while he gains valuable experience.

Kante will become West Ham’s sixth summer signing, following the arrivals of Crysencio Summerville, Niclas Füllkrug, Guido Rodríguez, Jean-Clair Todibo, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, in what has been a busy transfer window for the club.

West Ham are also looking to sign a striker before the August 31st deadline, with Tammy Abraham at the top of their target list.

While Abraham is a priority, the club needs to offload some players before making a move for the Roma forward.

In other news, West Ham may face financial challenges following a surprising development involving Kurt Zouma.
