Mai-Shayi Kills Man For Allegedly Stealing Indomie, Bread In Jigawa

Abdulrashibu Ya’u, a 40-year-old tea vendor from Sararai village in Jigawar Tsada town, Dutse Local Government Area of Jigawa State, has been arrested for beating 20-year-old Hassan Garba to death.

Reports indicate that Ya’u accused Garba of repeatedly stealing bread, milk, noodles, and petrol. Enraged by the alleged thefts, Ya’u tied Garba with a rope and beat him with a stick, leading to his death.

Upon receiving the report, police officers arrived at the scene, arrested Ya’u, and rushed Garba to Rasheed Shekoni Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the Police Public Relations Officer in Jigawa, confirmed the incident, stating that Ya’u admitted to the crime during questioning at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse. Ya’u claimed he had previously informed Garba’s parents about the thefts, but no action was taken, which fueled his anger.

“Following a thorough investigation, Ya’u will be arraigned in court to face the full weight of the law,” the PPRO said.
