Bruno Labbadia Backs Out Of Super Eagles Coaching Role

Bruno Labbadia has made a surprising U-turn on his decision to coach the Super Eagles of Nigeria, according to a report from DAILY POST.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had announced earlier this week that the experienced German manager would be taking the helm of the three-time African champions.

However, recent reports from Germany indicate that Labbadia has now declined the opportunity to lead the Nigerian national team.

The 58-year-old former Germany international striker was initially expected to oversee the Super Eagles during their crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda.

His appointment was seen as a strategic move by the NFF to bring European expertise to the team in their quest for continental success.

However, it appears that the NFF and Labbadia were unable to finalize the terms of his contract before the public announcement was made.

This failure to reach a contractual agreement has led Labbadia to withdraw from the role, leaving the Super Eagles without a confirmed head coach just weeks before their important AFCON qualifiers.

The sudden reversal has put the NFF in a difficult position, as they now need to find an alternative solution quickly.

Austin Eguavoen, the technical director of the NFF and a former coach of the Super Eagles, may be called upon to step in and manage the team for the upcoming qualifiers.

Eguavoen, who has previously led the team on an interim basis, could be tasked with guiding Nigeria through these critical matches as the NFF scrambles to secure a new permanent head coach.
