Man Utd Held By Twente In Disappointing Europa League Opener

Christian Eriksen played both hero and villain as Manchester United faltered in their Europa League opener, settling for a draw against Erik ten Hag’s boyhood club, Twente.

Eriksen put United ahead in the first half with a brilliant strike inside the box.

However, he was at fault for Twente’s equalizer when Sam Lammers dispossessed him just outside the United penalty area and blasted a powerful shot past Andre Onana.

United pushed for a late winner, but Twente goalkeeper Lars Unnerstall denied Joshua Zirkzee’s curling effort and made an incredible save to stop Mees Hilgers from scoring an own goal.
