BREAKING: Ministry Of Works Abuja Hit By Fire Outbreak, Staff Evacuated

A fire incident occurred at the headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Works in Mabushi, Abuja, shortly after workers resumed on Friday morning.

The fire was caused by a spark from a faulty circuit breaker on the ground floor but was swiftly contained, preventing significant damage.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Mohammed A. Ahmed, confirmed the incident, stating, “A minor fire incident occurred at 11:30 a.m. in Block A of the Ministry.

It was caused by a spark from a faulty circuit breaker in the electrical control room on the ground floor.”

Mr. Ahmed also shared details from Mr. Kekai Bekebi, the Station Commander of the Federal Fire Service at the Ministry, who reported that his team responded quickly, using fire extinguishers to bring the situation under control. He added that staff were successfully evacuated without incident.

The Director of Human Resource Management, Mr. Aliyu Abdullahi, confirmed there were no injuries, casualties, or loss of documents during the incident. He commended the staff for their orderly conduct during the evacuation.

Normal operations have since resumed, with maintenance teams clearing debris and restoring the affected areas.
