Arteta Equals Wenger’s Champions League Record After Shakhtar Win

Mikel Arteta has matched Arsene Wenger’s Champions League record after Arsenal narrowly defeated Shakhtar Donetsk 1-0 on matchday three at the Emirates on Tuesday.

The victory came courtesy of an own goal by Shakhtar goalkeeper Dmytro Riznyk in the 29th minute, marking Arsenal’s second win in three games played.

By not conceding against Shakhtar, Arsenal achieved their first clean sheet in three consecutive Champions League matches since November 2007, during Wenger’s tenure. Additionally, the Gunners have allowed only one goal in their last six group stage/league phase matches.
