BREAKING: Court Dismisses Charges Against 119 #EndBadGovernance Protesters

The Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed the case against 119 individuals charged over the nationwide #EndBadGovernance protests.

Presiding Judge Obiora Egwuatu struck out the suit on Tuesday after M.D. Abubakar, representing the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), applied to take over and withdraw the charges.

At the hearing, Abubakar invoked Section 174 of the 1999 Constitution, which empowers the AGF to assume control over and discontinue any criminal proceedings initiated by other agencies, including the Inspector General of Police.

With Justice Egwuatu’s approval, the AGF requested the termination of the trial under the same constitutional provision. Following no objections from defense lawyers, Justice Egwuatu granted the request and dismissed the charges.
