Edo Queens Land In Morocco, Set For 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League

Nigeria’s representatives in the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League, Edo Queens, have safely arrived in Casablanca, Morocco, ahead of the tournament’s kickoff on November 9, which runs through November 23.

The West African champions shared their excitement on their official X handle with a statement and photos, saying, “Touchdown in Morocco! We have safely landed and received a warm welcome from our hosts. We’re ready, focused, and excited for the journey ahead!”

Edo Queens aim to bring the trophy back to Nigeria, hoping to become the first Nigerian team to win the title in the competition’s four-year history. Alongside the potential for glory, they are also set to earn financial rewards.

CAF announced Thursday that each of the eight participating teams will receive $150,000 (about 89 million Naira) for participating. This year’s tournament features a total prize pool of $2,350,000—a 52% increase from last year—as part of CAF’s commitment to developing women’s football in Africa.
