Gbadebo Rhodes Recounts 2023 Gubernatorial Experience, Position Self for Gov in 2027

The Lagos gubernatorial candidate of the Labor party in the 2023 election has recounted his experience in the last general election and announced that he will be vying for the apex seat in Lagos come 2027.

Gbadebo spelt out the importance of opposition parties in politics and the current state of Lagos State and how he intends to commit himself to the betterment of Lagos when he emerges governor of the state during an interview known as ‘Gold Room’ hosted by Iyabo Ojo, Nigerian Nollywood actress.

“By God’s grace, I will run for governorship again in 2027. We are working hard.

We’ve gained significant traction, learned from our mistakes, and identified the loopholes we made,” he said.

Rhodes-Vivour who garnered over 3 million votes but lost his polling unit to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos at the governorship poll lashed out opposition parties for going silent after election, stating that he is going to change the narratives.

“The biggest mistake in Lagos politics is that after elections, the opposition disappears. That’s not happening this time,” he stated.

He made known some of the measures currently ongoing which include free treatment through a micro health insurance plan worth over ₦6,000 for residents and medical engagements.

He pleaded to the Lagos state governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu to ensure transparency and efficient use of public funds.

He also promised to hold public office holders accountable especially in Lagos.

“With the level of suffering Nigerians and Lagosians are enduring, there’s an urgent need for accountability and transparency.

The government must use public funds in the most efficient way possible,” he said.

He stressed that active opposition benefits the public by keeping the government in check.

“When the opposition holds the government accountable, the people ultimately benefit,” he concluded.
