Queen Naomi Collapses in Custody After Arrest Over Ibadan Stampede

The estranged wife of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Naomi Silekunola, reportedly collapsed in police custody following her arrest.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Naomi was detained after a tragic stampede at a free funfair she organized for children in Ibadan, which claimed the lives of 40 people.

In a Facebook post, Seun Aribikola, a prominent Ibadan broadcast journalist, disclosed that Naomi fainted amid the ongoing crisis. She was promptly taken to the Police Hospital at Eleyele for medical attention, accompanied by Hamzat, the Chairman of Agidigbo FM.

The spokesperson for the Oyo State Police Command, Adewale Osifeso, confirmed that eight individuals were arrested in connection with the incident.

In a related incident, a stampede during a palliative distribution event at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Maitama, Abuja, left at least 10 people, including children, dead and several others injured.

The event, aimed at alleviating hardship in the local community, attracted over 3,000 attendees, many from Mpape, Gishiri Village, and surrounding areas.
