In a coordinated effort, troops of the 6 Division, along with other security agencies, have successfully dismantled 37 illegal refining sites and confiscated a staggering 130,000 litres of stolen petroleum products in the Niger Delta region.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the operation also resulted in the seizure of six boats and the arrest of 10 suspected oil thieves.

In Rivers State, the joint task force focused their efforts on the Obiafu area of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni (ONELGA) LGA, where they successfully destroyed a cluster of nine illegal refining sites.
“Additionally, two mobile phones, and several locally constructed dumps, stocked with over 60,000 litres of stolen products were confiscated.

These include about 50,000 litres of stolen crude, 5,000 litres of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), 6,250 litres of illegally refined Dual dual-purpose kerosene (DPK) and the arrest of four suspected oil thieves”, he said.
Danjuma said in the Buguma general area in Asari-Toru LGA, three illegal refinery, a large boat were also deactivated with over 24,000 litres of stolen products recovered.
He said around Bille and Bakana general areas in Degema LGA, three illegal refinery, two wooden and one fibre boats, were intercepted with over 6,000 and 5,000 litres of stolen crude respectfully, as well as 5,000 litres of illegally refined DPK recovered.
