Member of the House of Representatives, Nkemkanma Kama, has officially resigned from the Labour Party (LP).

According to Eko Hot Blog, the lawmaker announced his decision in a July 16, 2025, letter, stating that he made the move after extensive consultations with his family and political allies.

Kama, who won his seat on the LP platform, expressed his deep gratitude to the party for the opportunity and support that helped him secure his victory.

However, he emphasised that his resignation was a necessary step for the “greater good” of the people he serves. He assured his supporters that his commitment to their service remains strong, regardless of his party affiliation.

Although Kama has not yet announced his next political home, his resignation has sparked speculation in Ebonyi political circles. Political observers believe he will likely join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which has consistently tried to convince him to join their ranks.

Governor Francis Nwifuru and other APC stakeholders have openly called on him at different events to join the party.
