The Federal Government has declared Friday, September 5, 2025, a public holiday in observance of Eid-ul-Mawlid, which commemorates the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.

This was confirmed in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.

In the statement, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, extended warm greetings to Muslims in Nigeria and around the world. He called on the Muslim Ummah to reflect on and emulate the Prophet’s virtues of peace, love, humility, tolerance and compassion, describing these values as essential for national unity and progress.
