The outreach, which formed part of activities marking the 25th National Women’s Conference, was themed “Healthy for All: Bridging Gaps, Building a Healthy Future.”
Residents benefitted from a wide range of free medical services, including hypertension and diabetes screening, hepatitis B and C tests, tuberculosis checks, cervical and breast cancer screening, eye and dental care, skin clinic, malaria testing, as well as health education and counseling.
Speaking on behalf of the host Chairmen, the Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Otunba-Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, congratulated COWLSO on its 25th anniversary and praised the First Lady’s commitment.
“This initiative is a clear demonstration of the First Lady’s consistent motherly care and her unwavering dedication to the health and wellbeing of our people.
We are grateful that Epe is a beneficiary of this impactful project,” he said.
Also speaking, the Vice-Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. Sikiru Owolomoshe, who represented Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun, noted that the outreach was timely.
“With the rising cost of healthcare, many residents hardly get the chance to go for proper checkups. This effort by COWLSO is saving lives and restoring hope,” he stated.
His counterpart, Hon. Adesanya Lateef, Vice-Chairman of Eredo LCDA, echoed similar sentiments.
“Health is wealth, and by bringing these free services to our people, COWLSO is helping us build a healthier and stronger constituency,” he remarked.
The outreach recorded a strong turnout, with notable leaders and stakeholders in attendance, including GAC members Alhaji Shakiru Akanni Seriki (BAMU) and Rt. Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, alongside other dignitaries from across Epe Federal Constituency.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Funmilayo Adeyiga, expressed gratitude after receiving free eye screening and medication.
“I have been having issues with my sight for months, but I couldn’t afford to go to the hospital. Today, I got screened, treated, and given glasses at no cost. May God bless COWLSO for this kindness,” she said.
The Free Medical Outreach not only reflects COWLSO’s enduring commitment to complementing the Lagos State Government’s healthcare interventions but also reinforces its vision of building healthier families and stronger communities across the state.
