The Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, announced the massive funding, stating that the MMIA project would involve stripping the terminal down to its core structure and rebuilding all its mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

Due to the ongoing work, FAAN has issued a travel advisory, urging all passengers to prepare for potential disruptions. The authority advises travellers to set out for the airport early to avoid missing their flights and to follow all traffic instructions around the airport.

Additionally, FAAN has requested that only passengers visit the airport during the reconstruction period to help manage space and congestion.
