According to the EFCC, Tamarakuro had posed online as Keisha Reynolds, a female private investor from the United States, to defraud an NGO known as the Pregnancy Support Network.

The fraud began as a romance scam but quickly turned into a sophisticated money laundering scheme. The stolen funds were converted into cryptocurrency and sent to a crypto wallet owned by the convict.
During the trial, an EFCC investigator provided evidence showing that the funds were traced through multiple transactions before ending up in Tamarakuro’s wallet. The court ordered Tamarakuro to forfeit the proceeds of his crime to the victim.
