The deceased, a native of Ikabigbo Uzairue in Etsako West Local Government Area, was allegedly attacked over a dispute linked to a job he had completed about six months earlier.
Police operatives from the Ahor Divisional Headquarters have already arrested three suspects in connection with the case.
His brother, Mr. Lukeman Imuekheme, explained that Aruna had reupholstered some chairs for a client about six months ago. On Friday, September 5, 2025, the same client returned, insisting the chairs be fixed again, claiming the foam used had compressed.
“My brother reminded them that the agreement was only to cover the chairs with new fabric, not to replace the foam,” Lukeman said.

An argument broke out, but nearby people intervened, and the client left. Unknown to them, he reportedly went to get reinforcement. The following day, the group returned with 11 men, including three who arrived in a Toyota Venza SUV.
Finding Aruna absent, they allegedly attempted to cart away his tools and belongings, but apprentices and residents resisted, sparking a clash.
An eyewitness, Mathew, said Aruna, who had gone out for work, was alerted and rushed back to the workshop. On arrival, the men attacked him with dangerous weapons.
A good Samaritan rushed the victim to several hospitals, including Eyean Primary School Health Centre and Narrow Way Hospital, but they declined to admit him. He was later taken to Edo Specialist Hospital, where he was confirmed dead at about 12:08 pm.
His body was deposited at Stella Obasanjo Mortuary in Benin City.
The family has appealed to the Edo State Government and the Commissioner of Police for a thorough investigation and justice.
“We call for fairness, equity, and justice in this matter. We have also contacted the Chairman of the Edo State Special Security Squad, Operation Flush Out Kidnappers and Cultists, because the attackers acted like cultists based on the weapons they carried,” Lukeman added.
