Atiku noted that the persistence of Boko Haram attacks highlights deep cracks in the nation’s security system and called on leaders at all levels to move beyond rhetoric and take decisive steps. He pointed out that while the Nigerian military has continued to make sacrifices in fighting terrorism, the scale of violence calls for more coordinated intelligence, adequate funding, and support for troops on the ground.

He further urged communities to work closely with security agencies to prevent insurgents from exploiting local weaknesses. According to him, silence and indifference from society only embolden terrorists, while collective action remains the most effective tool against such threats.

The former Vice President also appealed to Nigerians not to see insecurity as a challenge for the government alone but as a national emergency that demands the contribution of all citizens. He stressed that insecurity weakens the economy, displaces families, and threatens the unity of the nation.

Atiku extended his condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for peace to return to Borno State and other troubled regions. He expressed hope that with sincerity, accountability, and a united front, Nigeria can overcome terrorism.

Security experts continue to warn that without a shift in strategy, insurgent groups may remain a major obstacle to stability in the North-East. Atiku’s message, therefore, echoes the concern of many Nigerians who believe that the time for urgent action is now.
