- Labour Party rules out Peter Obi as 2027 presidential candidate
- Three possible candidates already identified from South-West, South-South, and South-East
- Arabambi says revealing names now could endanger their safety
Factional National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party (LP), Abayomi Arabambi, has stated that Peter Obi will not be the party’s presidential candidate in the 2027 general elections.
Eko Hot Blog garnered that Arabambi revealed on Monday that the party has already identified three potential candidates from different regions of the country but is keeping their names confidential for security reasons.

According to him, LP is currently in discussions with the individuals involved, including a notable female figure from the South-South who was the party’s deputy candidate in 2023.
Arabambi explained that the party is distancing itself from Peter Obi and his followers, whom he described as political extremists.

“Peter Obi will not be our candidate in 2027. He can continue backing whoever he wants, but he won’t fly our flag,” he said.
“We already know the agenda they want to turn Nigeria into a South-East project, and that’s not something we’ll accept.”
“There are many South-Easterners who’ve served in past administrations, but none behaved like this. Only Obi’s supporters are causing trouble across the country,” he added.
While not disclosing names, Arabambi hinted at a strong line-up: one from the South-West, one from the South-South, and one from the South-East.
“We are keeping their names private for now because, if we mention them, they could be targeted. Some people are determined to destroy this party since they couldn’t hijack it,” he claimed.
He insisted the party is working quietly with serious-minded individuals and not interested in those who promote chaos in the political space.
