A divisional police officer in ibara police station, superintendent of police Dada Olusegun who undressed and beat a masquerade recently in Abeokuta for defying the Ogun state government’s order on social gathering has been confirmed dead.
Men of the police station had arrested the masquerade who violated the state government’s order on the restriction of movement above twenty-five people.
According to the source, before the divisional police officer beat the masquerade, he was told about the town’s culture but he neglected and removed the clothes of the masquerade and beat him mercilessly.

The masquerade before his arrest was said to have warned the police and threatened to deal with the officer who destroyed the gathering and dispersed the followers during the celebration of the egungun festival.
However, Ogun state police public relations officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi had dispelled the rumours saying that the death of the officer had no connection with the arrest of the masquerade. Because the late officer was not on duty when the masquerade was arrested.
“The late DPO had been on a sickbed for the past month and was battling with an ailment which later resulted in his death.”
