The striker of Ilasan Jakande Football Club(JFC), Udoh Samuel Jeremiah, has struck up against the federal government rule violators, saying social distancing and the staying-at-home order should be respected.
Samuel said those players violating the rule of social distancing in the name of “we are training” should be held and kept behind the counter after they had been quarantined. He added that some Nigerians are still doubting the availability of COVID-19 pandemic. He lamented that prevention is better than cure.
He went further to say that the whole sporting events in Europe and other countries where football leagues are partially source of revenues have been shut down.
“It seems we are thinking that it is only the rich that can be affected. Besides Abba Kyari, the deadly disease has killed most poor people. We were not aware of their deaths because they were not prominent,” he said, “I do feel bad whenever I see my colleagues going to the football pitch for training.”
He said, “football players and other Nigerians should please obey the rule of social distancing because it is just for some time. Pandemic will not exist forever, so stay safe.”
