The safety of Ekiti state residents might have been endangered due to the sheer laziness, ignorance and dereliction of duty on the part of those saddled with managing COVID-19 affairs in the state.
This new development in the state is coming after officials in the state refused to adhere to the standard preventive measures of the COVID-19 which stipulated that a person or people coming from a high risk area, asymptomatic or symptomatic, must be tested and quarantined for 14 days
Matters came to a head when the father of a man who came into Ekiti state from Lagos refused to accommodate him over fears that his son might have contracted the virulent infection.
Dissatisfied with the outcome of the COVID-19 test result, the old man asked officials to quarantine his son for 14 days because, according to him, the test result was tentative and he also does not have a place to self-isolation him.
Rather than take the right step and do the needful, the officials turned the situation to a source of derision and banter.
