The usual heavy traffic has returned to how it was, in some part of Lagos State, before the advent of COVID-19, but the LASTMA officials said “No cause for alarm” as citizens set out in troop today, 5 May 2020, to their various places of work.
Residents in Lagos State were found at different bus stops as the state government has ordered the relief of the stay-at-home order which allows the authorized workers to go out from 6 am to 8 pm.
However, some places of work, like banks, are allowed to work from 8 am to 3 pm. The 6 am to 8 pm order is meant for the expectation of Lagos State residents in general “when to when for citizens to be seen on the road”.

Our reporter who went out to monitor the citizens how they adhere to guidelines of transport reported that some motorists and commuters obeyed the new order as they all used the face masks and being sanitized before boarding vehicles.
He added that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) officials had been on the road, especially from Abraham Adesanya to Bonny Camp, to ease the traffic.
The usual heavy traffic in the past from Chevron to Jakande Estate towards Ikate Roundabout has returned as vehicles were in a go-slow way of driving.
Passengers were found in mass wanted to convey buses to their different destinations.
Mr. Kunle Alayaki, the LASTMA personnel, said they have been on the road to make sure the motorists drive in accordance with the new order from the state government.
“We have been on the road before 5 am in order to ease the traffic as that is the rushing hours for motorists and commuters. So no one should be panicked as we are on ground to reduce the heavy traffic” he said, “Today is the first day of resumption of some workers after the relief statement by the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.”
The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) buses were available at Iyana Oworo to board commuters from that spot to Berger, and those from Berger were to plight CMS, TBS, and Obalende while some were going to Oshodi.
The guidelines were taken into consideration. 20 face mask commuters were allowed to board after being sanitized.
“We are still in a state where the affected patients are at a high rate. Government has allowed relieving the order of lockdown in order to allow some people back to work,” said a driver.
